“The attack on the Tusas facilities took place at 3:26 p.m. Two terrorists were neutralized, a man and a woman,” he said during a broadcast on the NTV network.

“We are working to verify the identity of the terrorists. As soon as we do, we will disclose which terrorist organization they belong to,” Yerlikaya added.

The attack occurred when at least two individuals arrived in a taxi at the main gate of the Tusas factory, a state-owned company located on the northern outskirts of Ankara, dedicated to the development and production of military aircraft.

There were two explosions and a prolonged firefight, according to several Turkish broadcasters, which also showed footage of a man and a woman armed with assault rifles. Initial reports about one attacker detonating an explosive at the gate and a supposed hostage situation inside have not been confirmed.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned the attack from the Russian city of Kazan, where he is attending the BRICS group summit.

Tusas develops and manufactures some of the most prestigious military aircraft in Türkiye’s weapons program, such as the Kaan fighter-bomber, the Hürjet training aircraft, and the Hürkus plane.
